Ben's Stories

May 25, 1935
“Hi Kevin, Here is the story as told to me by Uncle Ben when I was a teenager. This is what I wrote: Anna and Isaac lived across the street from a store. The son of the store owner always bothered Anna and Issac.
One day, May 25, 1935, Ben was with his friend in a car outside. He saw the son of the store owner, Vincent Caro, who said something nasty and Ben got out of the car and chased him.
Ben grabbed Vincent by the collar and dragged him back to Vincent’s parent’s store.
The parents yelled, Ben yelled and Ben left.
Ben took his friend to Fairmont Park to drop him off. On his way back he saw Max who told him that the store owner had passed out.
When Ben got back, the store owner had died of a heart attack.
Ben was arrested and accused of causing the heart attack, manslaughter.
Renee got Ben a lawyer who was a friend of hers. Ben spent one night in jail. Lou Bell bailed him out.
The case only lasted a month. It was a coroners inquest. One important witness who was a passerby testified that Ben never laid a hand on the guy.
